Introducing this thought-provoking banner that boldly states "Cesspool of Marxist Indoctrination." A quote attributed to Republican Senator Marco Rubio, reflecting a controversial perspective held by some individuals regarding the teaching profession.
As a teacher, it is inflator statements like this by our elected leaders that makes it harder to teach. He gets to just say it, score points with his donors, and make teachers feel less supported. It's just mean. And the meanness gets celebrated.
Meanness against teachers? I don't get it and this saying coupled with school book bannings, the redefining of slavery, and the attack on LBTBQ kids makes it harder to come back to teach this year.
The saying just kept coming up in my mind again and again. I know it was a throw away saying form a small man awhile ago and everyone else has forgotten about it, but should everyone forget about it? Is it worth putting on a banner? I'm not sure. I want to see if by putting it on a banner and if I can purge myself of this nonsense.
